  • Do You Know These Things About Jute? (samjohn) - 10 Shocking Facts About Eco Friendly Jute Fiber Most of the people are not aware of jute's benefits for our environment. As I am in the jute business so I have a little more knowledge about the jute's benefits. That is why I have also written a wonderful blog post on its ultimate benefits. As I can't paste that post here because of duplicacy pr

  • Re: [Cirrus] Trayvon Martin (Carolinahoosier) - The assumption made by the paranoid is "They" are already armed. Since "They" are armed, I need to protect myself by carrying a gun. Not true, but let's not let facts guide my decisions.

  • Re: [Cirrus] Trayvon Martin (tempest) - That is a really good point, and one I somehow missed in the tragedy of what had happened. They also certainly were not coming to the defense of the woman who shot near, but didn't kill, her abuser and is now in prison for 20 years. So yes, it does seem clear, guns are for white people. Maybe specifically white men. If you only want to cry

  • Re: [tempest] Trayvon Martin (Cirrus) - Nearly every time someone is gunned down, the organized gunnuts scream that if only this person been armed, they could have protected themselves from injury or death. However..... ...we don't hear a word from the NRA about Trayvon carrying and protecting himself with a gun, not a word. Bottom line, they don't want "certain"

  • Re: [Cirrus] Trayvon Martin (tempest) - It's actually worse than that - the message in Florida is that if you are a white man you can use this defense. However if you are, for example, a black woman who fires a warning shot against an abusive spouse during an attack, you will get 20 years in prison (though you harmed nothing but the wall of the house you live in). http://thinkprogress.or

  • Trayvon Martin (Cirrus) - If George Zimmerman walks, and it looks like he will, the message is that in Florida or anyplace else with "Stand Your Ground Laws" will be that someone can walk up to you , pick a fight and if you resist, they can kill you with no or little consequence. Is this what this country is about?

  • Forum Closing (tempest) - VP has been quiet for a long time, and the time has come to put it to rest. We will be putting the forum into Read-Only mode starting on August 1, 2013. It will remain running as a read-only archive for up to two years, after which point it will be taken offline completely. Thank you to everyone who participated in this community! No

  • Re: [Matvienknat] Rawfoodism (Marina) - It's possible you're not getting enough lysine. Lysine is a limiting amino acid in people who practice a raw food diet. It is also possible your iron stores are in negative balance. Have your doctor run a blood test to check for iron. If that's not the problem, start paying attentiin to the lysine content of the foods you eat. It can also be s

  • Re: [StonedSatyr] Little help from my friends (Carolinahoosier) - Welcome!

  • Little help from my friends (StonedSatyr) - Had a rather lengthy intro but decided to keep it simple. I'm going vegan. Dig it. Got tired of feeling like crap after eating a meal and I've always had this nagging feeling that the foods I eat play an important role in how I perceive life. Shamanism, Druids, Etc. I'm a rather spiritual person who sometimes blames the heavy use of psychotropi

  • Re: [Patches] Vegetarian and here to stay this time. (dagautieri) - Welcome! It sounds like you have been headed down this path for awhile. It is great you feel ready to take this step! There are so many yummy foods to discover. Have some fun looking through the archives for recipes and the food log too. See you around!

  • New to the Community (ShizukaStar) - Hello! I am a 24 year old mom living in southern Ohio. I have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for four years (as of sometime this month) and am transitioning to a strict vegetarian. By transitioning I mean that I am eating all my vegetarian but not vegan foods because I don't like wasting. I only know one other veg*n and they just recently transi

  • Re: [Yingchen] The Nature Argument (happylittlevegan) - Wow this is very interesting and gives me a lot to think about. I think regardless of whether or not we were meant to be carnivores or ominvores, we have envolved to a point where we no longer have to depend on animal products. We don't eat animal products because we have to, we do it because we want to. While natural carnivores in the wild

  • Re: [tempest] Horseback Riding: Is It Vegan? (happylittlevegan) - Hmm I'm really not sure there is an absolutely definitive answer to this one.. I am 100% against professional horse riding and racing. When animals are used as entertainment and are simply abandoned or slaughtered when they are no longer able to perform to industry standards, this is most certainly not vegan. Here in Australia it is a big iss

  • Vegetarian and here to stay this time. (Patches) - Hello everyone! My name is Josée, I'm a 23 year old female from Canada. All my life I was never big on any meat, some I got more used to than others but in my mind eating an animal never really made sense in my head.. even at a very young age, I've had passes where I ate meat "for protein" like many pushed me to think was the only easy way to get

  • The Nature Argument (Yingchen) - http://thinkingvegetarian.wordpress.com/2013/06/01/the-nature-argument/ I'm hoping to start to blog about veg*n philosophy, meant for veg*ns and veg*ns only. I don't know how to go about getting readership though, so for now I'm posting in forums everywhere. Here's my take on the nature argument, or 'Why is it wrong to eat animals when other

  • Being Vegan in a Non-Vegan Society (happylittlevegan) - Sorry I'm new so I'm not 100% if this is the right board to post this? I'm been vegan for about 3 weeks now after being pescetarian since last September because I love and adore all animals and was disgusted to learn exactly what happens to them so we can have our steak/ cheese/ eggs ect.. and I thought it was very hypocritical of me to say I lo

  • Re: [Sirena] VEGAN BODYBUILDING (dagautieri) - Hi there, I don't know if it is helpful to your specific quest, but two books that might be good starting points are Thrive by Brendan Brazier and Eat and Run by Scott Jurek. They are not bodybuilders (very lean looking cyclist and ultra-marathoner if memory serves) but hardcore athletes so might touch on relevant topics. Good luck!!

  • New vegan from Egypt! (PixelAngelBaby) - Hello salam aleykom :D Im Madiha (aka Maddie) and Im a 24 yr old American/Egyptian living in Egypt. And in the morning she did something on our sofa, that was not so good. But we weren't able to be angry on that, because she looked so fearfull around. My mom said it would be better to give her back, so does my stepdaddy. I don't know - she was punished by the sec

She is a quiet and sweet one. Shivered all the time she was in the car. I thought she will suffer of a heart attack. Poor thing.. Her name is "Nika". I hope it will turn out well and we don

  • New Vegan (Sirena) - Hello to Everyone... As stated in the Subject line I am a New Vegan. I became a vegetarian 2 years ago. Leaving meat behind only got difficult in the company of family bar-b-ques but I soon overcame that after watching the documentary "Earthlings". It was never a problem again. I was quite content eating eggs and dairy products until seeing t

  • Vegetarian meal ideas for someone who hates vegetables (natalieveg) - Hi guys, I used to be vegetarian in highschool for about 2 and a half years but I stopped because I was fainting all the time and my iron levels were about 10% of what they should have been. That was about a year ago I stopped and I want to start again but I'm scared of fainting all the time like I used to. I'm not a fan of vegetables, not at all

  • Re: [jambo101] Fat Sick and Nearly Dead (Carolinahoosier) - Keep us posted!

  • Re: [Carolinahoosier] Fat Sick and Nearly Dead (jambo101) - Actually juicing differs from smoothies, juicing has all the fiber and pulp removed from the resulting liquid. This isnt a permanent diet and only lasts a few days, weeks or for the few as much as 60 days.Second part of this process is a dietary lifestyle change that will ensure you dont fall back to your old ways of eating because if you dont make

  • Re: [cpdvegan] observations on raw eating (christinekennedy) - Raw food helps in cut downing the fats of your body. So we can use different different types of salad in our lunch, dinner, and in breakfast too.

  • Re: [jambo101] Fat Sick and Nearly Dead (Carolinahoosier) - Saw him on Dr OZ (quack). I can't imagine all smoothies all of the time.

  • Re: [jambo101] Fat Sick and Nearly Dead (Marina) - It's no that the diet is not to my liking or that I find it controversial. It is a quick fix that will undoubtedly leave you wishing you hadn't done it in the long run when the weight comes back with a vengeance. 10 lbs in 5 days is a metabolic nightmare. I find it interesting that you do not feel you can cut back a mere 300 calories per day, bu

  • May 3, 2013 (VeggieChick2013) - I started my day with cheesecake. I know it sounds crazy, and totally not vegan BUT I got a great deal on Earth Cafe Vegan Cheesecakes (have any of you tried them?) at KGB deals, so I had some last night... & Then I had some more this morning! Eh, it's Friday, why not start the day with something yummy. I did have my green smoothie sans fruit to

  • Re: [jambo101] Fat Sick and Nearly Dead (VeggieChick2013) - This diet was a bit too extreme for me as a new vegan. I've been getting some nutritional counseling and the consensus seems to be that overloading our bodies with such a radical change can be detrimental and have unpleasant side effects that will make it hard to go the distance. I do like the mini reboots though. They are actually what made me

  • Re: [Marina] Fat Sick and Nearly Dead (jambo101) - Good points Marina however calorie counting has never worked for us,seems to be too much of a bother and we are paying the price for our lack of diligence in this area. • Re: [jambo101] Fat Sick and Nearly Dead (Marina) - Hi there! I haven't seen the video, and although I'm sure the man in question lost a ton of weight, I strongly suggest that you do not go on an all juice diet. This kind of diet is extremely low calorie. As a result, the loss of weight comes at a very high price: a significantly lower metabolism rate. This means once you finish the diet, you w

  • Re: [Carolinahoosier] Fat Sick and Nearly Dead (jambo101) - Its about how one man turned an unhealthy lifestyle around by consuming nothing but juiced fruits and vegetables for 60 days, his transformation is amazing.
