Hi! My name is Caitlin and I'm (obviously) new here. I'm really looking forward to having a place to talk about Animal Rights issues and a cruelty-free diet. None of my friends are veg so I find myself often keeping my thoughts to myself.
I am 24 years old from Ottawa, Canada and I have been vegetarian for about 8 years (off and on). I have been strict about it for the past 2 years and do not plan to ever 'renege' again. I am slowly working towards becoming a vegan - I have cut eggs out of my diet and use only soy milk, but I'm finding it more difficult to say goodbye to cheese. One step at a time, though.
I'm really looking forward to getting to know you and posting. Cheers :D

Welcome! You should join a veg meetup group (like http://www.meetup.com/OttawaVeg/) to make some new friends who see things the way you do. I run a similar group in the GTA. If you're ever in our neighbourhood, you may want to check it out. Smile

I actually already belong to that group :) Unfortunately I am extremely shy so I haven't gone to any of the meet-ups yet.. hopefully I can muster up some courage soon!

Hello! It seems like every post I read on this thread is from someone new named Caitlin. I think I'm the third new Caitlin in the past 3 days here! We should start a club... :D

If you haven't tried it, nutritional yeast might be a something to give a shot as a cheese replacement on food. It's really good sprinkled on pizza or popcorn.
