Container Gardening Questions Can't Post - Sign Up!

Mr Ursa and I want to go some container gardening. We want to try growing zucchini, a couple of kinds of lettuce, and some cilantro. We already have some Swiss chard going, and it's doing well. At some point we'd like to expand to herbs such as oregano and rosemary. We have three 15-gallon containers and one five-gallon (freebies from a neighbor). We have access to free compost from our city, but we'd need to buy potting soil.

Any recommendations or container gardening tricks to pass along?

Don't let them dry out! Once they are dry getting them wet/moist again is very difficult. You'll probably have to water twice a day in the summer.

They will be located on the south side of the house (the only place outside we have room for them), which gets blazingly hot in the summer. I will keep a close eye on them to prevent them from drying out!
