New, excited and a little overwhelmed Can't Post - Sign Up!

Hi everyone! I'm a new vegetarian, on day three of a new way of life. I learned this week so much about factory farming and I just feel terrible I have been supporting this business for so long. My husband's not completely on board... I read a couple of other posts and am guessing I'm not the only one in this situation. It's frustrating because I feel very strongly about this, and he's not interested. I would be happy to be vegan (probably will someday) but it is going to be a tough enough transition with two kids (3 1/2 years and 11 months)... I need to learn how to get them everything they need to thrive.

Happy to find this forum!

Hi Lauren,

You're right, you're not the only one who's got a partner dragging their feet. But it can work, and you never know. I'd already given up on my partner when after several years, he read Fast Food Nation and made the choice to go vegetarian - so you never know - good luck!

Welcome to VP.

hello and welcome! i find it pretty interesting that so many hubbies/male partners are so reluctant to give up meat - is it because they think it isn't manly?? i can't think of anything sexier than a man who doesn't want a steak for dinner Tongue

i thrived on veganism for some time before my mom decided to "try it for a week" - it's been seven months and she isn't looking back. my father was hesitant, but not opposed, and now he has narrowed his meat consumption to fish. he also loves my mother's and my vegan cooking. all we ask of him is that he give new things a try!

Believe it or not, some of us (guys) actually bring our partners to vegetarianism.

haha oh, i believe it! i have seen that happen, but lately i keep reading here and in other veg*n forums about girls/women struggling with their diet because their boyfriend/husband is unsupportive.
