...in the French village of Pont St. Esprit, in 1951. For decades it was assumed that the local bread had been unwittingly poisoned with a psychedelic mould (ergot). Now, however, an American investigative journalist has uncovered evidence suggesting the CIA tampered with the food supply.
BTW, the CIA was also guilty of treating American and Canadian citizens as (LSD) guinea pigs, as part of project MK Ultra.
I didn't see this story in the NYT or WaPo yet. But anyway, what a bummer, eh?
