cookie dough something Can't Post - Sign Up!

I hate it when I find something on a blog that turns out to not be nearly as good as it sounds. I found this recipe for Cookie Dough Dip and thought I'd give it a try.

First, mine does not look like the one pictured. Mine had date flecks throughout, maybe because I made it in the food processor not the vita-mix, but even with the vita-mix it would be much darker than what's pictured. Second, mine has the consistency of hummus, not cookie dough. And it isn't very sweet, despite the amount of dates in it.

I was thinking this would be a good way to hide some chickpeas for the picky one. If he likes it I'll report back, but I'm doubtful.

So I stand corrected. The kids like it. ALL the kids. So I will make it again. The date flecks they assumed were flecks of chocolate and I just let them think that.

I still don't think it's that great though, but then again I don't have to.

That reminds me of some kind of chocolate-chickpea spread recipe I found somewhere. I think it was supposed to be hummus, but with the chocolate in it and the consistency, it was more like icing. And it was impossible to tell there were any beans in it at all.

i wonder if it'd get a better cookie dough consistency if the chickpeas were fork-mashed (or food processed) and then all ingredients mixed using a regular hand mixer. it seems like all things in the processor would indeed equal sweetened hummus. glad your kiddies like it! i'm definitely going to try this using a more cookie-like method.

It's funny how tastes differ. I made this using dates, no flecks as I just left the processor running until it was fully mixed but it was way way too sweet. The sweetness made me gag but both Davey and David liked it

I went to a party last Friday night, and a friend of mine brought the original version of this dip (not the sugarless one). It was a smash! She served it with apple slices as well as graham crackers, and people were parked near that bowl throughout the evening. People including me. Angelic

DH and I made this a couple of weeks ago (with the food processor), and we loved it.

Sounds interesting... maybe add some vegan SoyGo to thicken it a little- and give it a sweeter taste?
