I probably lost 10 pounds after going vegan, but I didn't pay too much attention. I definitely gained plenty of weight on a vegan diet when pregnant though! After 4 babies in 5 1/2 years I weighed 50-60 pounds more than I would have liked. I am now just a few pounds away from returning to my original weight. I didn't do any one thing in particular, but I when I want to lose weight I do try to eat less in the evening (and definitely drink less in the evening!), exercise more, and eat fewer bready products (and definitely cut out the refined grains). I don't worry too much about fat, though I don't cook with a ton of it since oil just contains sooo many calories, so I just try to be reasonable about it. If anything, I focus on doing MORE of certain things, instead of thinking of what I'm doing LESS of. More greens, more exercise, more activities and less tv watching, more fun. It's so easy to fall back into a rut of using whatever comfort food one grew up on as a crutch to get through stressful times or tired evenings. Those habits are hard to break, evening after 20 years vegan!
