The Heartland Cafe is a unique institution -- restaurant, nightclub, casual community center, newsstand and general store. The menu is full of flavorful selections for non-carnivores but is not exclusively vegetarian. Very Veg*n friendly though with many options -- veggie chili, macro plate, burritos, BBQ Seitan, Veggie Dogs, etc. The decor is comfortably rustic; the ambience loud and happy, with lots of friends, neighborhood regulars and families conversing. In warm months, the front sidewalk is a popular gathering and dining place; the trellis is brightened with little lights. Great option for mixed crowd (veg*n's and omni's). Has general store with veg*n friendly items, activist magazines and newspapers, etc. Bohemia in Chicago.

This is a vegan restaurant that uses as many organic, locally grown ingredients as possible. It is a restaurant that owners Magdiale Wolmark and Cristin Austin opened in June 2000 and is dedicated to their daughter, Raen. It's a tiny little place with a lot of class.

English Park Bed and Breakfast, 16 Sheppard Place, St Albans, Christchurch, New Zealand English Park is a vegan bed and breakfast. The house was designed with ecological principles in mind (for example, solar water heating) and is suitable for people with allergies. The rooms are beautiful, but can get a bit stuffy during the day in summer if the doors are closed. The breakfast is wonderful and filling, and you have organic coffee, tea, and homemade cookies in your room. By walking or by bus you can reach several vegetarian restaurants (just ask for directions) in the city, or you can buy a meal from the owners. Yolanda, Rosemary, and their children are all wonderful people and will make you feel at home.
